Connector Selection Guide

Selecting the Right Connector

Step 1 - Circuit Amperage

Determine the circuit amperage requirements for your application.
Deutsch connectors have the following amperage ratings:
DTM Series - 7.5 amps continuous
DT Series - 13 amps continuous
JS-16-00 Jiffy Splice - 13 amps continuous
DTP and DTHD (Size 12) 25 amps continuous
JS-12-00 Jiffy Splice - 25 amps continuous
DTHD (Size 8) 60 amps continuous
DTHD (Size 4) 100 amps continuous
JS4-00 Jiffy Spice - 100 amps continuous

Step 2 - Number of Cavities

How many contacts do you need? Deutsch refers to this as the number of cavities.
DT and DTM Series in-line connectors are available with 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 or 12 cavities.
DT Flange Mount Series Receptacles are available with 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12 or 48 cavities.
DTP Series connectors are available with 2 or 4 cavities.
DTP Flange Mount Series Receptacles are available with 4 cavities.
DTHD Series connectors are single wire connectors.
Jiffy Spices are an economical alternative for single wire, in-line, connections.

Step 3 - Pin Type

The last step is selecting the type of pins and sockets you prefer.
All connectors are listed as complete assemblies with your choice of Pin or Socket option. You will find a pull down menu next to the connector listings where you can choose the type of pins or sockets you prefer.

Make your pin and socket choices based on the wire size and insulation diameter you are using and whether you prefer Solid style or Stamped & Formed style contacts.

Nickel plated contacts are generally used for circuits such as power, lighting and controls while Gold plated contacts should be used for critical circuits such as Sensors, Data and Communications. For more help in selecting the right pins and sockets see our Pin and Socket Guide.
